Corporate Citizenship

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy is closely connected to Citi’s own business strategy. In Russia, Citi is oriented toward the concept of social responsibility, pursued by the bank around the world. The CSR goal is to develop local communities in the Company’s geographical areas of presence. In Russia, we support social programs in the areas of financial education, education of future generations, promotion of small business and microfinance centers, and the ecology. Activities supporting local communities are not restricted to philanthropy, charity and financial support of public organizations. Our own employees engage in volunteer activities and play an active role in this process.

All of our major projects, aimed at supporting local communities in Russia, are implemented by our partners—non-profit organizations active on the international, national or local levels. The funds for executing these projects are provided by Citi’s corporate foundation.

The Citi Foundation has invested $95.6 million in 2007 in various programs in 87 different countries of the world, including more than $750,000 in Russia. During the period from 2001 to 2008, the Foundation invested more than $3.5 million in Russia.
