Card Protection and More insurance program offered by CJSC Chartis to Citibank clients permits insurance against unauthorized usage of a lost or stolen Citibank card, primary or supplementary, and compensation for losses connected with reissuance of documents and keys as well as unauthorized usage of a lost mobile phone, if lost with a Citibank card.

Participation in the program is voluntary and has no effect on provision of other bank products and services.


What is included in the insurance program?


The program compensates for losses in the following cases:
  • unauthorized usage of your lost/stolen insured card (for 72 hours before the card blocking)
  • robbery after cash withdrawal at a bank branch or through an ATM (within 2 hours following a withdrawal)
  • theft/loss of card holder’s private documents(passport, driver's license and other private documents) along with an insured card
  • theft/loss of card holder’s apartment, house or car keys together with an insured card
  • an article worth more than RUB 1,500 purchased using an insured card is damaged, destroyed or stolen (within 30 days after the purchase)
  • unauthorized usage of card holder’s mobile phone (SIM card funds) lost/stolen together with an insured card (for 72 hours, until the SIM card is blocked)

Amount of insurance coverage


The insurance company compensates for actual damage incurred up to RUB 75,000 per year in total for all risks for all primary insured cards and 75,000 per year in total for all risks for all supplementary insured cards, including:
  • expenses up to RUB 5,000 for reissuance of documents lost/stolen together with an insured credit card
  • expenses up to RUB 5,000 connected with unauthorized usage of a mobile phone lost/stolen together with an insured credit card
  • expenses up to RUB 10,000 for recovery of keys and locks in case keys are lost together with an insured credit card
There is a maximum of two insured events per year in total for all risks for all primary insured cards and a maximum of two insured events per year in total for all risks for all supplementary insured cards.


Program terms


The insurance program starts from the 1st day of the month in which the insurance program participation fee is charged. Participation fee can be charged after customer initiated transaction only.

The participation fee will be deducted automatically once per month on the date of the primary credit card statement issue or on the 28th day for a primary debit card, provided that the card is not blocked and the necessary amount is available on the account.

The client receives no insurance policy/certificate, since it is Citibank that concludes the insurance contract and is the Insurant. Details of the insurance program are presented in the Explanatory Instruction for CJSC Citibank credit card holders.

Where the program is valid


Insurance coverage extends worldwide for all risks except for cases when an article purchased using an insured card was damaged, destroyed or stolen.

For such cases the insurance coverage extends to the territory of the Russian Federation.


Procedure and terms for insurance case notifications


  1. Immediately inform ZAO Citibank and block the credit card, if necessary.
  2. Inform the police or corresponding authorized foreign government body within 48 hours of the insurance case and obtain a special card or other written confirmation of your report (except for cases where your keys or documents are lost or a good is damaged).
  3. Inform CJSC Chartis within 3 days of the insurance case at:

* If you have more than two credit cards, the two cards that were issued earliest will be insured.

This insurance program is offered by CJSC Chartis (License Ñ ¹394777, issued on May 12, 2010 by the Federal Service for Insurance Supervision). ZAO Citibank, Citigroup, Inc. and its other affiliated persons, state authorities, and the Russian Federation are not responsible for CJSC Chartis’ fulfillment of its obligations as per the insurance agreement and insurance program. This insurance cannot be considered investment insurance and does not provide for a refund of program participation fees for the past insurance period. If an insured person decides to cancel the program during the first 30 days of the insurance program period (if no insurance case has occurred), the program participation fee is not charged and is subject to refund (in case it was paid).
