Your Card Protection insurance program Your Card Protection insurance program


Your Card Protection insurance program offered by CJSC Chartis protects Citibank credit card holders against financial loss due to unauthorized usage of a lost or stolen card and in case of robbery during a cash withdrawal.

Participation in the program is voluntary and has no effect on provision of other bank products and services.


How the program works


In case of unauthorized usage of your credit card by third persons, CJSC Chartis will refund money written off your credit card since its loss and till the moment it’s blocked (but no more than 72 hours before blocking).

In the event of robbery during a cash withdrawal at Citibank branches and ATMs, as well as at any other ATMs servicing Citibank credit cards, CJSC Chartis will refund the amount stolen if a violent robbery took place within 2 hours following the cash withdrawal.

All insurance benefits paid are kept within the insurance coverage.


Insurance coverage level


In the event of unauthorized usage of your credit card by third persons or a robbery during a cash withdrawal, CJSC Chartis refunds money used or stolen in the amount of:
  1. Up to RUB 75,000 for Citibank MasterCard and Visa Classic credit cards.
  2. Up to RUB 150,000 for Citibank MasterCard Gold, MasterCard World, and Visa Gold credit cards.
Insurance settlements are paid a maximum of two times per year (not more than two insured events per year); financial losses are compensated up to the maximum amount of RUB 75,000 /150,000, respectively.

Program terms


Any holder of the primary credit card (holders of supplementary credit card are not eligible for the insurance program).

The insurance program starts from the 1st day of the month in which the insurance program participation fee is charged. Participation fee can be charged after customer initiated transaction only.

The client receives no insurance policy/certificate, since it is Citibank that concludes the insurance contract and is the Insurant. Please see the terms of the insurance program in the Explanatory instruction of CJSC Chartis.


Cost of the insurance program


  1. RUB 60 per month for Citibank MasterCard and Visa Classic credit cards.
  2. RUB 90 per month for Citibank MasterCard Gold, MasterCard World, and Visa Gold credit cards
At your request, the Bank will automatically write off RUB 60/90, respectively, from your account on a monthly basis on the date of statement issue.


Where is the program valid


Insurance coverage is valid worldwide.


Procedure and terms of insurance cases notification


  1. Immediately inform ZAO Citibank and block the credit card.

  2. Inform the police or corresponding authorized foreign government agency within 48 hours from the moment insurance case has taken place and obtain a special card or other written confirmation of your report.

  3. Inform CJSC Chartis within 3 days of an the insurance case

This insurance program is offered by CJSC Chartis (License Ñ ¹394777, issued May 12, 2010 by the Federal Service for Insurance Supervision). ZAO Citibank, Citigroup, Inc. and its other affiliated persons, state authorities, and the Russian Federation are not responsible for CJSC Chartis’ fulfillment of its obligations as per the insurance agreement and insurance program.

This insurance cannot be considered investment insurance and does not provide for a refund of program participation fees for the past insurance period.

If an insured person decides to cancel the program during the first 30 days of the insurance program period (if no insurance case has occurred), the program participation fee is not charged and is subject to refund (in case it was paid).
